Protection of technologies from destruction by random ferrous objects
Coal mining and coal supply in power plants utilises large mining machinery and conveyors. There is a risk that random ferrous objects, such as a roller from a conveyor, may come loose and enter the product stream. Such objects can jam the conveyor or damage coal crushers. Temporary shutdowns and destroyed equipment result in extreme financial losses. It is therefore best to prevent such situations in the first place. A time-tested solution is installing a powerful permanent or electromagnetic overband separator. The separator is suspended above the conveyor with material and ensures the removal of all random ferromagnetic objects. The separator can also be combined with a metal detector to detect even non-magnetic metals for subsequent removal.
